A RACE TO MY HEART (FAN FICTION) (CHAPTER 18)

TAXI - 東方神起
CHAPTER 18

Fate hurriedly went to the boys’ apartment. She didn’t want Max to get more upset. Somehow she wanted to make up for whatever wrong thing she did that made him angry with her.

As she nervously approached the boys’ apartment, she was trying to think of a good topic to talk about with Max.

She was already in front of the door, when she noticed that it wasn’t locked. She immediately went into the apartment thinking that maybe Max had really left it open for her.

And as soon as she entered the living room, shock and anger quickly filled her heart and soul.

Max was on the sofa . . . kissing the young dancer he was flirting with in the studio a few days ago.

Fate felt like her heart was instantly crushed.  “Max!” she shouted.

Max suddenly stopped kissing the girl, and coldly gave Fate a blank stare.
“Max, what are you doing?” Fate asked with a quivering voice. She was trying very hard to stop herself from crying.

Max smiled. “Can’t you see what I’m doing? Do I have to spell it out for you?” he asked with a cold and maddening smile on his lips.

“Max, why are you doing this to me? Why are you hurting me?” Fate continuously asked.

“Why? Maybe you should ask yourself that question?” Max replied with anger.
“Why . . . Max? What have I done to deserve this?” Fate asked with tears already forming in her eyes.

The female dancer slowly stood up from the sofa, then looked at Fate. She then started to arrange herself and her things.

“Max, I’m leaving. I think the two of you should talk. If you need me again, just call me . . . But please next time you contact me again . . . make sure that you’re no longer attached to someone. Choose Max . . . it’s me or her,” the dancer uttered as she walked out of the room.

Fate just stared and stood aside as the girl left. She couldn’t understand why she couldn’t force herself to be mad with the girl. Somehow she was thinking that the dancer was just caught in the middle of everything that was happening. . . and whatever she saw wasn’t her fault . . .

As soon as Fate and Max were left alone in the room . . .

“Max, please tell me what have I done to make you hate me this much?” Fate finally uttered as tears were already flowing from her eyes.

Max stood up and angrily looked at Fate. “Do you really want to know what you did? Are you prepared to tell me the truth . . . if I tell you what is bothering me . . . what is making me insane these passed few days?”

“Yes . . . I will tell you whatever it is you want to know. You know I don’t lie to you,” Fate answered in between sobs.

“You never lied to me? How I wish I can believe that,” he uttered as he bitterly smiled to hide the pain he was feeling.

“Max . . .” Fate uttered his name again.

Max slowly approached Fate. And as soon as he was standing next to her, he quickly took her into his arms and started to kiss her.

“Max . . . what are you doing?” Fate cried out as she tried to break free of his grasp.

Max continued to passionately kiss Fate on her neck, and as he kissed her, his hand was already starting to open the buttons on the blouse she was wearing.
Fate tried to stop Max. She was totally confused on why he was acting so strange. She didn’t want something to happen between them again. She wasn’t prepared for the consequences. She wanted to clear up the misunderstanding between them first.

“Max, please stop,” Fate slowly begged in a low voice.

Max quickly stopped and stared at Fate. Anger was visible in his eyes.               “Why? Why do you want me to stop? Am I not good enough for you? Am I not a good kisser? Am I not turning you on? . . . Is Michael a better kisser than me? Did you sleep with him already? Was he good in bed? How many times have you guys made love? Did he satisfy you?” Max asked as if he was going mad.
Suddenly . . . Fate gave Max a hard slap on the face. She was totally caught by surprise by her own action.

“Max . . .” Fate uttered in complete shock and horror. She didn’t know why she slapped him. But he was already saying too many hurtful words, she tried to reason in her mind.

Max smiled. “You’re surprised? Yes, I know. I saw the two of you kissing in the parking area of the race track. You made a total fool out of me, Fate. How could you? You said you loved me . . . so why?” he uttered as tears streamed down his face.

“Max, please let me explain. What you saw . . . it is all just a misunderstanding. Yes, Michael kissed me. And I am sorry, that I didn’t even try to stop him. But you see . . . I was somehow scared to hurt his feelings,” Fate tried to give her side.

“You didn’t want to hurt his feelings? What about my feelings?” Max shouted.
“Max, Michael is just my friend. . . He can never take your place. Please just forgive me . . . I know it was all my fault. I should have stopped him. But . . . but. . . I was too weak at that time,” Fate uttered.               “Get out!” Max screamed.
“Max?” Fate asked in total shock. “What are you saying? Can’t you forgive me?”

Max stared at Fate with such cold eyes that somehow it could easily break through ice. “No!” he uttered as he quickly turned his back on her.

“Max, wait please . . . Please forgive me . . . I love you Max,” Fate uttered as she started to cry uncontrollably.

She hurriedly rushed to Max’s side. She tried to touch his arm, but he quickly brushed her hand away.

“Leave Fate. I don’t want to see you ever again. You already broke my heart. I don’t think I can ever forgive you. So let’s just break up. It is better for the both of us. I don’t want you to stay near me . . . because I am afraid I might just end up hurting you more. So please just leave. Let’s end this,” Max uttered as he tried to hide his face that was already covered with tears.

“No, Max. I . . . I love you,” Fate uttered with tears streaming down her face.
Max tried hard not to look at Fate. He was already hurting so much and seeing her cry was making everything much harder.

“Leave!” Max shouted as he violently shoved Fate away from him.

Fate continued to cry uncontrollably.

Max quickly turned away and went straight to his room.

“Leave Fate. I’m sorry but I can’t love you anymore,” he uttered with tears already clouding his eyes.

As Max slowly closed the door behind him, he could still hear the heartbreaking cry that Fate made. His heart was breaking into a million pieces as well. How he wanted to stop her from crying and comfort her. But then it would all be just a lie. He was angry with her and somehow he didn’t know how to forgive. . . and forget. So it was better this way. . . It was better for them to just part and go their separate ways.

Feeling weak, Max leaned on the door of his room. . . and slowly he wept.

“I’m sorry, Fate. I’m sorry. . .Even though I still love you . . .the fact remains . . . I don’t know how to forgive you,” he uttered.   And while Max cried inside his room, Fate continued to cry out in the living room.

“I love you Max . . . Please forgive me . . .” Fate continuously begged. She was already down on her knees. Somehow all her strength had disappeared and she was already feeling very lost and weak. She continued to cry and sob uncontrollably. “Why Max? Why? Why did we have to end this way?”
